AV Preeminent status is a peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the gold standard in lawyer ratings for more than a century. The company behind Lawyers.com, Martindale-Hubbell interviews legal professionals like attorneys and judges on a continuous basis throughout the year.
After an extensive review by members of the Bar and Judiciary, Martindale-Hubbell announced the new professional endorsement.
Martindale-Hubbell/Lawyers.com notes that AV Preeminent is “the highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that the lawyer’s reviewed peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.”
Attorney Thomas Carver has been practicing law for over 43 years in Missouri. His practice focuses on serious criminal charges, often in federal court. He has petitioned the United States Supreme Court for review of lower appellate court decisions and argued before the Missouri Supreme Court. Carver has also argued in the United States Eighth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeals on several occasions.
Carver served as the President of the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (MACDL). He currently sits on the board of directors of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association (SMBA). He’s received awards such as the Robert Duncan Award for Appellate Excellence and was twice named Lawyer of the Year in southwest Missouri for white-collar criminal defense.
Today, Carver’s practice is focused on federal capital murder prosecutions, complex tax fraud cases, criminal conviction appeals, along with drug and sex offense crimes.
Carver continues to serve the legal community, recently speaking at the annual Missouri Bar general meeting. He also frequently writes on the firm’s blog, Show-Me Justice about pressing legal issues like expungement in Missouri and federal sex crime laws.
